several questions about my field

I am looking for the major between advertising and marketing, as we know, the adv is belong to communication college, and the marketing is belong to the college of business, but after I taking the basic class of adv, I found there has a deep relationship between them. 

It sounds like they are separate fields, and I have a lot of questions of the advertising major. 

1: what is an advertisement?

2: what is the purpose of the advertisement?

3: Does the adv has the target like marketing?

4: what is the specific distribution under the adv?

5: what kind of job can we find after we graduate from university?

6: what kind of products need the advertisements?

7: is this important to the products and their companies?

8: how it important in our life and society?

9: what are other relative majors with advertising?

10: what is the most important thing to a excellent advertisement?

This is my first semester to get know of advertising, so I just read our required book of the ADV 205 course. Arens, Schaefer and Weigold. M Advertising. From this book, I learned that advertisement is communicated by some ways like video, newspaper, magazines to publish  some information to people. It also include the noneconomic advertising and economic advertising. The noneconomic advertising means publish something with no aim at profit. The essence of an advertisement is communication, and the soul is originality. If you like this major, you can be a designer also can be a manager. We can find the job in companies, TV station, newspaper office and so on. The targets of the field are customers and the people who need the informations and help from the noneconomic advertisements. I believe that most of the product need a good advertisement to show customers their benefits, and earn the profit for companies. It can make the products looks much better with the images and ornament.
